At the end of this thinking the snowball effect has taken place and now the problem becomes monumental and the fear has grown.
How can we combat these times??
We are not powerless over our thoughts. There are thousands of what ifs but how many come to pass?? Gods grace is not in the what ifs but in the here and now.
Reflect on God’s faithfulness to you in the past when are facing hard times. I love to go back and look at my old journals and reflect on all He has done. If you don’t journal perhaps you should start now so not only you but generations to come can go and reflect on God’s goodness in times of trial.
We need to be renewing our mind with the scriptures daily as the word of God tells us. “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”Romans 12:2
“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” Phil. 14:8 Don’t watch, read, & focus on things that cause gloom & doom thinking. It just brings you down & can create fear. I’m not telling you to not be aware what’s going on in the world. Focus on the one who is in control & pray for these hard situations.
Here are some of my favorite scriptures to meditate on when I become fearful.
Deuteronomy 31:6 English Standard Version (ESV)
Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”
Isaiah 41:10 English Standard Version (ESV)
fear not, for I am with you;
be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Here are some other scriptures that I find helpful.
2 Timothy 1:7
1 Chronicles 28:20
The next time you find fear building up focus on the Lord & His word, not the problem. He is the one that is bigger than the fear.
